{cozy} bedroom...

I am so ready for a change in my master bedroom. There are only two ways to arrange the furniture in that room and I think it's time to move it all the other way. It would give it a fresh feel and help my feelings too. Almost like I have something new! My bedroom is tiny. It is an old house and so doesn't have huge rooms like newer houses. I'm not complaining. I love my old house! I am thinking of going dark in that room. I think a dark paint color would give a fun contemporary touch to it. I love this room featured in Cottage Living. It is the bedroom of Lee Kleinhelter, owner of Pieces in Atlanta. I could never be brave enough to do the dark ceiling like she did, but I think it does give the room a nice, cozy, cocoon feeling and the glossy paint adds some glam. I think the yellow lamps are fun and I love the white bedding and tufted headboard. I know for my bed, I want to do a white diamond matelasse coverlet and this ruffled duvet. I want to get this fabric and do one big, lumbar pillow and then two big, simple, white shams to go with it. Maybe I should be on the search for yellow
lamps, too?

This bedroom belongs to Tia Zoldan. It was also featured in Cottage Living, but was painted a different color at the time. Love this rich color. Any guesses as to what it might be? Again, love the white bedding and the headboard.

This is Ruthie Sommers brown bedroom. Did you know she is closing her store? I found this image and Lee's bedroom via style court.

This is a picture from the store Dovecote. I loved the color and called the store to see what it was. It is called Mouse's Back by Farrow and Ball. Thoughts on the color?

I love these dark colors, especially the dark gray. I want to paint my son's room this color. The white bedding really pops against the dark walls.

Great inspiration pics...I like the look of dark walls but when I tried to live with them they were just too dark and depressing for me. I think picture 2 would be a good transition to something darker! Great Blog!

I like the color of the wall of the very last picture best. The yellow lamps are chic and your plan for the bedding is charming.

Can I put you in my pocket? Love it!

I have my bedroom painted a dark chocolate. I love it! I actually did it a long time ago, before the color became so popular. Not that I'm taking any credit for it, I got the idea from a magazine.

I think I will always have to have a chocolate brown bedroom though, even if I move. It's very relaxing and easy to wake up to in the morning. It keeps the room dark, which I really enjoy.

Have you ever thought about spray painting a pair of lamps yellow?

I love the idea of dark walls, if I didn't live in an apartment I would paint my walls dark too. Good luck with your bedroom makeover, I cant wait to see how it turns out!

Angela, I like it really dark when I sleep, so I think it's going to work out well. I actually have though of spray painting a pair of lamps. I went to some estate sales this afternoon in search of some. I think it's too risky to do with some that are more costly than estate sales or Goodwill, ha!

How cozy these bedrooms look. Remember, being in an old house, using glossy paint will highlight any irregularities in the walls. If you do paint, please share the color and pictures. We'd love to see.

I think something that really makes darker rooms pop is the painted ceilings...at least you could paint it a lighter shade if you don't want to venture into a color that deep on the ceiling.

I can't wait to see what you end up doing!! Please post pics xx

granny smith, you are so right about the imperfections showing! Previously, I've used flat paint on my walls, as I prefer that to a satin finish. I just like the look of flat paint. My trim is semi gloss, though. I will probably use flat again in the bedroom. I have such decorating ADD, that this make take some time to do. Hopefully not too long. I am so anxious for a change!

I did my master bedroom in an amazing green/blue gray, and it goes with absolutely EVERY COLOR IMAGINABLE. I am so happy with it. I did the ceiling in a lighter value of the color. I have Ralph Lauren paisley bedding with apricot, burgundy, purple, turquoise, white. It just looks fab with the paint. Do it!
