These two pictures are of the home of fab blogger Courtney from Inside the Loop. You can see the sliver of black door in the brown room picture just to the left. Isn't that a great brown wall color?! AND look at that wonderful imperial trellis wallpaper!
These are from the blog m-a-belle . I just love this whole house!

This kitchen door is in the home of designer Tia Zoldan. You may recognize it in it's "before" state when it was featured in Cottage Living.
This one is also from Cottage Living. I might get brave and do my hallway french door.
This is from Domino Magazine. I can't tell if it is black or a deep blue.
These are from Style Court of Kate Spade's apartment. Notice her black doors!
Please share with me any links to pictures you may have of black interior doors! Or, if you've done this, let me know how you like it!

I say go for it ;) Risky usually pays off, right?! xx
I love the idea! I painted my bathroom vanity black a few weeks ago and love it. I'm now thinking about painting my kitchen cabinets black but also have a commitment problem with it. Maybe black on bottom, something else on top? I'd say go for it! You can always paint it a different color! :)
Thanks for the encouragement Courtney. I might get brave and try one door ;). Megan, maybe white cabinets on top??
Hi - the map was like that when I bought it - it's just glued on I think - not real professional.
AND - all my doors - interiors and exteriors- are painted black. I did it about five years ago and it looks fabulous - especially if you cheap doors - which I do - it makes them look so much nicer!
Great minds think alike! In the house we designed and built - not the one I live in now - I also had all of the interior doors painted black. That was in 2002 and the painters in our small town thought I was crazy. After they were finished everyone commented on how handsome they were! Go for it!
In my kitchen I used a chocolatey black on the bottom, concrete countertops, and Ralph Lauren "oatmeal" on top - kind of a creamy white. I still miss that kitchen.
hill country house, your former kitchen sounds lovely. I'm sure the painters did think you lost your mind. I think when we do anything other than the usual, whatever one else does decor, people just don't "get" it!
I LOVE the idea of the black doors...and thank you for the comment on my blog! :-)
Just found your blog, I too love the look of the black doors , I tried painting my bedroom double doors a deep deep grey I happened to already have , I figured they needed to be painted so I would try grey , I love them , I am thinking of re-doing them black now , and another couple of doors as well. You photos are making me think of the shiney paint , hmmm.
Chris
I've been seeing this quite a bit lately. I love the idea!
Chris, I think the high gloss is the way to go with it, so it will really stand out, or at least a semigloss.
We painted the pantry doors in our old home black and loved it!! I would almost consider doing it in the home we are buying soon, too. The only thing to consider is the amount of cleaning you will have to do. Black seems to show more dust than white.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing. We've got the cheapest doors on the planet and half of them are only painted on one side! Ugh.
If I take the plunge it will be a serious committment since ALL of our interior doors are off the same hallway.
AND I was going to say that Joni of Cote de Texas painted her's black, but I see she beat me to it.
Keep us posted about what you decide!
I love your blog! I want to do the black door thing, too. It makes any old door look special. Great post and thanks for the PURE BUTTER source!

I have some pictures of black interior doors, I love 'em.
Hi ... I know this is an old post but I googled painting your interior doors black and came across it. Just what I was looking for! I cannot find a contact place on your blog, so I hope to get this question answered! :) Did you ever paint them? If so, what black did you use and did you like it? I am about to take the plunge but there are as many blacks as there are whites, it seems. Thanks!
Sadly, I never did. I would go with a high gloss black. I don't think semi gloss would give enough of a shine. good luck!!
I am going to do it in the next few weeks and I will shoot you a picture. Thanks so much for the comment on my blog. The tree was so much fun and really is adorable. :)
